My random assortment of awesome pictures and words.
"Up until this week it had been about 3 months since I had even seen a guitar. One of the guys I am teaching, Rex, has a baby boy, Emmanuel, with Cerebral Palsy. Emmanuel can only say about 10 words, but one of those words is "guitar". He LOVES the guitar. Listening to guitar is the only way he can fall asleep. So Rex got a guitar, but he doesn’t know how to play it. For years, he has just been strumming the open strings until Emmanuel falls asleep. We have been going over there in the evenings for appointments, so Rex asked me if I could just play a few songs so Emmanuel could fall asleep. I wish you could see the excitement on that little boy’s face when I pull up a chair next to his crib with the guitar in my hand. I have never seen someone so grateful for my guitar playing. So I sit there and play any sliver of Beatles or James Taylor songs that I can remember until he falls asleep. And once his beaming smile turns into a content grin, I just sit in silence for a few minutes and give thanks for such tender moments. I cherish times like that dearly."
